When you cut the head off the mythological beast "Hydra", two heads grew back in it's place. It was a dark, terrifying vision of the human psyche.
My sculpture "Hydra" is made from 500 metres of network cable. Part synapse, part virus - it's a vision of the beast we have created. The data trail we leave as click our way through the internet creates a version of ourselves that will be our own personal hell, where our inner desires will be used by an omniscient corporate system of endless surveillance.
As Yuval Noah Harari said in his book Homo Deus (and I paraphrase) - "when an AI system knows more about you than you do, any notion of free will be as quaint as rain dances and flint knives"
